Image update from the field on November 13th, 2024. Portions of the seed beds are recovering post-Hurricane Helene. It’s still difficult to estimate the percentage we lost, or the percentage which are growth-stunted due to the excessive winds we experienced (over 100mph), but Aries is anticipating 40% plus loss.
Aries is attempting some ‘direct seeding’ this season, to try and alleviate this economic hit. Direct seeding is different from our traditional route of seed beds, as the direct seed will be planted & remain in that same spot until harvest (vs seed beds pulled & transplanted into another field starting in late November each year).
